Answering FAQS About Our Atlanta Physical Therapy Services

Are you searching for a physical therapist in the Atlanta area? Perhaps you’ve heard of Equalizer Health and our physical therapy services but are unsure about what we do and how you can get started. We want to share these FAQs and answers with you so you can be better informed and feel confident scheduling an initial consultation with our expert team!

Do I need a referral?

physical therapist in atlanta

No, you do not have to have a referral. Dr. Holzwarth can work with patients directly in the state of Georgia even if they’re seeing another provider or have a referral somewhere else; getting multiple assessments and opinions can be very helpful, especially when the option of surgery is involved. Our physical therapists are happy to write detailed reports to take back to your own provider if you’d prefer.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we are considered an out-of-network provider, so payment is required at the time of service. This model allows for transparent pricing with no surprises and a higher quality of care. In fact, many of our Atlanta physical therapy patients pay less at Equalizer Health than they would through their in-network provider! Through our online patient portal, you will receive a “superbill” which contains all of the documentation needed to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What types of conditions do you treat?

Spinal discomfort (lumbar, cervical, thoracic, etc.) might be the most common conditions we treat, but we also do orthopedic manual therapy for a variety of joint, knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle pain/injuries. Other conditions we have helped through physical therapy include hypermobility disorders, fibromyalgia, Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, chronic fatigue, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, vertigo, migraines, and many others.

Do you work with athletes?

cupping atlanta physical therapy services

Yes! Dr. Holzwarth and the team here at Equalizer Health have supported athletes throughout their sports seasons, from utilizing pre-season biomechanical analysis to reduce the risk of tears and injury to providing recovery services such as dry needling, cupping, and Graston. When sports injuries occur, our personalized one-on-one environment focuses on specialized testing, observation, and holistic techniques to create a flexible treatment plan.

What is your approach TO chronic pain?

Chronic pain management is a process that requires time and trusted expertise. Dr. Holzwarth has a keen eye for identifying underlying causes and uses technical, data-driven, and evidence-based strategies to create a plan of care that works for you. Key factors such as sleep habits, nutrition, access to physical activity, and other physical or psychological limitations are part of the initial assessment to determine the best course of action. From mirror box therapy and graded exercise exposure to energy conservation strategies to mindfulness techniques, our Atlanta physical therapy services go above and beyond the average standard of care.

Do you offer strength and conditioning programs?

We sure do! You don’t have to be an aspiring or professional athlete to benefit from one of our strength and conditioning programs! This type of fat loss and exercise plan focuses on building and maintaining muscle mass through resistance training, HIIT workouts, and cardiovascular exercises in addition to modified fasting and prioritizing protein intake
